Studies on carbohydrate metabolism in yeast and brain hexokinase were focused on; Enzymes critical in neural function in Drosophila were studied; substrate binding sites in enzymes were mapped; Highlights : M.M.Johri- Fellow at Indian Academy of Sciences; O.Siddiqi- Vice President of Indian Academy of Sciences; P.Babu was on sabbatical from June '82 to April '83 to work at Stanford University Medical School and later at Caltech; P.K.Maitra was on sabbatical at University of Illinois, Chicago; V.Rodrigues was on study leave at Max Planck Institute for Cybernetics, Tubingen University, West Germany.
