The accession consists of: (1) 66 single issues or bound volumes of Science Reporter magazine, owned by St John’s Medical College. Processed. (2) Single issues and bound volumes of Swasth Hind Magazine (monthly periodical) from the library at St John’s Medical College. All available issues, from 1958 up to 1994. Processed. (3) Single issues and bound volumes of Science Today Magazine (monthly periodical) from the library at St John’s Medical College, from 1977 to 1992. Unprocessed.

Good, except for occasional brittle and fragile issues.

Dispostion

(1) Single issues and bound volumes of Science Reporter Magazine (monthly periodical) from the library at St John’s Medical College. 66 volumes. All available issues, from 1970 up to 1994. This will go to a new collection: LB-001 (Science Reporter). (2) Single issues and bound volumes of Swasth Hind Magazine (monthly periodical) from the library at St John’s Medical College. 126 volumes. All available issues, from 1958 up to 1994. This will go to a new collection: LB-002 (Swasth Hind). (3) Single issues and bound volumes of Science Today Magazine (monthly periodical) from the library at St John’s Medical College, from 1977 to 1992. Unprocessed. This will go to a new collection: LB-003 (Science Today). This loan is made based on the initial request from Venkat Srinivasan, Archives at NCBS (letter to the Dean, St John's Medical College dated Aug 13, 2023), and subsequent approved letter from Radhika Hegde to Dean, St John's National Academy of Health Sciences (dated Aug 21, 2023) for digital preservation of the above material, at no cost to St John's or to the public. Physical material was received on Sep 4 2023 by Venkat Srinivasan, Archives at NCBS. Archives at NCBS will share a fully structured digital archive of all the material loaned. It will make this digital material visible through its catalog, with due credit to St John's in the Accession Record of the collection. The Archives at NCBS can take necessary steps with the physical material to ensure it can be properly digitized for free public access to the digital content. It will make an assessment of the physical material upon receipt and share this with St John’s. Physical material returned to St John’s on a mutually agreed date decided by the two institutes. Note: Other journals that were brought for survey will be returned to St John's Library without digitization, including: Indian Journal of Environmental Health, Indian Journal of Experimental Biology, Indian Medical Research Memoirs. The Archives at NCBS anticipates that these journals will be processed by their publishers for public access, and they are also relatively more technical in tone, and unlikely to be referenced by regular researchers at the Archives at NCBS.
