Biographical / Historical

Thanjavur Nateshachary Ayyam Perumal (TNA Perumal) was an Indian Wildlife photographer from Bangalore, Karnataka, India. He began photographing wildlife in the 1960s. Much before he turned into a wildlife photographer, he would enjoy an occasional bout of shikar in the jungle. But he soon realised the importance of conservation, and he took it forward through photography. Perumal and other wildlife enthusiasts started a wildlife society, today known as the Karnataka State Wildlife Association. He saw the transition in the field of photography, from a distinctly black-and-white photographic world to one awash in colour to other advances in technology.
