Shubha Gupta Collection
Scope and Contents
This photo collection, created by Shubha Gupta, covers her working life at the Centre for Development of Instructional Technology (CENDIT) from August 1974. After ten years at CENDIT, she became an independent film professional, producing and directing video films for various agencies in India and other countries in South Asia.
Photos from the mid 1970s show her at training sessions at CENDIT. Outdoor photos from the mid-1980s show her as part of a field crew along with a camera assistant. Other photos show her as the cinematographer and director at field sites. travelling in a cycle rickshaw with camera equipment, in discussions with the crew outdoor and others
Indoor photographs show her at an editing table, setting up lights, and interviewing people. The photo collection also includes her identity card as Media Person for the French Institute in Delhi (1988) and visiting cards from the 1990s.
Documents received include handwritten notes made by her during her training. As a typist, she also typed many of her notes during her time at CENDIT. In addition, typed / photocopied training material received from CENDIT is also shared.

Biographical / Historical
Shubha Gupta moved from secretarial practice to audio visual production, joining CENDIT in 1974. Starting with documentation and transcription, she learned on-the-job video production, editing, and film-making . Her work spanned the tape and digital era, using multiple tape formats before moving to digital files. She later became a freelancer and participated in media workshops across South Asia, eventually moving to teaching roles in film appreciation and documentary film making.
