Scope and Contents

Letter provides a detailed update of progress at Thumba, notes that the magnetometer worked well for the flight 20.05 data reduction, notes a drawback in data reduction system and reiterates request for muirhead tunable frequency analyser, also mentions efforts to set up a programme for IBM 1620 to calculate theoretical field for flights from Thumba and attempts to debug programme; mentions that Hurtwitz of Coast and Geodetic Survey, Suguira of University of Washington, and Cahill have offered assistance in interpretation of data. Sastry also mentions proposal to develop Rubidium Vapour Magnetometer and requests for another visit to NASA to learn this technique.
