Description

From the Series:

An extensive series, this one has material from Krishnan’s PhD days (1974-1975) on mammalian brains till his latest studies on conotoxins and venoms in 2013. The bulk of the research material centres around his research on Drosophila melanogaster. Much of this is in the form of lab observations, notes, log books and registers. These have been arranged chronologically as per each year, or as was originally found documented in his office. For instance, a binder may contain handwritten sheets, notes as well as printed pages from 2-3 consecutive years. The Drosophila research is best understood in light of material under students/collaborators’ research and students’ thesis copies. The limited material from the non-Drosophila studies has been arranged as per names of projects i.e. ‘Peptide toxins of therapeutic value from Indian Cone Snail species’ or ‘Isolation, purification and characterisation of potential bioactive peptides from stimulated frog skin secretions’. The sub-series on ‘Avian research’ and on ‘Auditory research’ have been intentionally placed under Research for the approach and rigour he applied to these subjects even though there is no evidence that he actually pursued either in a scientific, experimental manner. The reprints of most of Krishnan’s published papers are in the ‘Published scientific articles’ sub-series and they are arranged by the disciplines. Of related interest is the collection, AT-002, Artefacts – K.S. Krishnan, which includes equipment found in his office.
