Scope and Contents
Sustained efforts by V Siddhartha against smoking advertisements and projects. Jul-Aug 1971: discussion with Action on Smoking and Health Ltd (ASH) to send reports to pass on to Committee on Science and Technology, New Delhi, to dissuade Government of India (GoI) from setting up cigarette factories to "break the big monopolies". Includes follow up letter to KS Sanjivi, Director, Voluntary Health Services Hospital, Madras. Dec 22 1983: Tapan Hazra, Professor, Radiation Therapy and Oncology, Medical College of Virginia, responds to Siddhartha's letter regarding regulations about smoking. Nov 29 1985: DB Bisht, Director General of Health Services, GoI, thanks Siddhartha for letter regarding Doordarshan TV programmes for anti-smoking. Includes copy of 'Communicating Science News' published by the National Association of Science Writers (NASW), USA.
