Correspondence between Rasmussen of the Smithsonian Institution and Pittie primarily on the forest owlet, Athene blewetti, including Rasmussen's sighting of the same, note for Red Data book and paper thereupon in progress; and discussion of identification process and clarifications regarding a Washington Post article on the same. Also includes Pittie's request for information on her sighting of variable-plumage black-throated weaver birds; and offer from Pittie to provide Palni hills notes from the Newsletter for Birdwatchers, to the Smithsonian.
