Completed Mandara hostel, 2004 - 2005
Content Description
The collection of photographs include photos of the construction of the main building of NCBS, the Mandara hostel block, life on the current NCBS campus and at the TIFR IISc campus, conferences and meetings, and profile images for annual reports. The construction photographs are of the NCBS main buildings and the Mandara hostel in Yelahanka. The main building of NCBS was constructed first, followed by the Eastern Labs and the Southern Labs Complex (SLC). The earliest photos in this series date back to the mid 1990s, with views of the landscape and the early foundation work. The collection also includes photographs documenting the place NCBS has taken up in the city of Bangalore.
A large number of photographs chronicle the evolution of the Mandara campus hostel, from the site of the construction in Chikkabommasandra, Yelahanka to the process of construction and the subsequent completed hostel building.
The series on campus life includes images from NCBS and beyond, mostly from student life. And the series on Annual Reports provides a visual cue for the administrative, scientific and architectural work undertaken in the previous year.
