The Rajendran Papers are arranged into the following series: Series 1: Correspondence Series 2: Research and Personal Administration Series 3: Media Clippings Series 4: Personal

Series 1 contains correspondences to and from C P Rajendran and Kusala Rajendran. All the correspondence has been arranged alphabetically.

Series 2 contains scientific data related to research undertaken by C P Rajendran and Kusala Rajendran. This series is divided into six sub-series. Sub-series 1 contains technical correspondence and data about samples that have been collected by C P Rajendran and Kusala Rajendran which has been processed by various institutions. The folders in this sub-series are arranged alphabetically on the basis of the institute which had processed the samples. The last folder in this sub-series contains miscellaneous handwritten notes and drawings related to their fieldwork and research. Sub-Series 2 contains photographs related to C P Rajendran and Kusala Rajendran’s field trips and research. The folders containing the photographs have been arranged alphabetically according to the place-names. Sub-Series 3 contains official correspondence and remarks on two project proposals related to research on the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Sub-Series 4 contains booklets and a book chapter written by C P Rajendran and Kusala Rajendran. Sub-Series 5 contains three folders: legal and administrative documents related to C P Rajendran and Kusala Rajendran. These folders contain writ petitions, memorandum of writ appeals, legal correspondence, right-to-information documents, service rule-books related to their court cases about pending promotion, and leave for pursuing research and study at other places. Sub-Series 6 contains two artifacts including memorabilia of volcanic ash from Mt. St. Helens and a terracotta horse figurine. The figurine is safely stored in a separate box. Special care has to be exercised while handling the horse figurine.

Series 3 contains media clippings that have been divided into two sub-series: Media clippings authored by C P Rajendran and Kusala Rajendran and, media clippings collected by C P Rajendran and Kusala Rajendran. All the clippings in both the sub-series are divided into folders which are arranged chronologically. The clippings are from magazines, and newspapers, and also include photocopies of original articles.

Series 4 contains photographs from C P Rajendran and Kusala Rajendran’s time in South Carolina, USA, photographs from their personal travels, and photographs from workshops, seminars, and courses attended or conducted by them. Included in the series are photographs of them receiving awards and the physical awards themselves: the National Geoscience Award given to C P Rajendran and the National Award for Woman Scientist given to Kusala Rajendran. Also included in this series are booklets related to convocation addresses and a brochure of the Centre for Earth Science Studies which are part of ephemera.
