The Office of Dean plays a crucial role in matters concerning the faculty at NCBS. The Office is responsible for recruitment of new faculty. It reviews the performance of the scientists and faculty employed at NCBS and accordingly accords promotions. Drafting proposals for short-term and long-term plans of the institute and holding Statutory Committee Meetings of its members from time to time also is under the purview of the Office. NCBS has a great tradition of taking its Annual Talks seriously. But there is also a festive environment during these talks when most of the faculty and some of the students of the Institute present the research work they have carried out in the past year. The programming of the Annual Talks is charted by The Office of Dean. On a regular basis there are various seminars, lectures and symposiums concerning the various disciplines at the institute. These too are governed by The Office of Dean. It also coordinates the visits of many scientists, visiting professors and speakers to the institute. The Office of the Dean plays a vital role in the matters regarding the faculty and the academics in the institute.The letters and documents are arranged in the way they were obtained from various sources .It is found that they are reverse chronology. This collection contains folders of the faculty with respect to their academic matters. It also reflects the efforts and the performance of the scientists at the NCBS.
