Content Description

The collection contains material from Anil Sadgopal who was a theoretical scientist at TIFR before leaving his job to work in the social sector. He is also the founder of Kishore Bharati, an organisation that works towards improving rural education.

Condition Description

In fairly good condition, except for some newspaper clippings of translated vocabulary and the material from Sadgopal (Anil Sadgopal's father).

Dispostion

All material processed as a new collection, MS-049 (Anil Sadgopal Papers). All received material is retained for the collection, except for duplicates and certain old published books. The accession will be transferred to a new collection titled the Anil Sadgopal Papers.

Provenance

The collection draws from materials related to Anil Sadgopal. The material was donated by Anil Sadgopal and was packed and sent from Sadgopal's residence in Bhopal by Anil Sadgopal. Received at Archives by Ravi KB. Contains books, thesis of Sadgopal's father from 1939, government reports, NGO Reports, Bhopal Gas tragedy related material, newsletters, journals and CDs.

Retention Rule

Permanent retention. The Anil Sadgopal Papers fits within the scope of the Archives at NCBS as part of the history of science education in India. It is also useful to scholars studying educational policy in India.The archives shall have full authority to handle the material in the future, as per the Deed of Gift (except for third-party copyright).
