Archival papers relating to the life and work of the ornithologist, Jamal Ara, including correspondence, unpublished and drafts of writings and manuscripts, field diaries, notebooks, published journal articles and media publications, rare reference material in ornithology including articles published by Ara's peers. Material ranging from 1940s to 1980s, almost all in the form of paper. Some material (drafts of Ara's writings, likely in science outreach) in Urdu. Volume approx 1 x 1 x 1.5 cubic feet.

Material was brought from Ranchi to the Archives at NCBS by Raza Kazmi, a writer and close associate of Madhuca Singh (daughter of Jamal Ara), on April 25, 2024. Material was in Madhuca Singh's residence in an almirah that had not been opened for many years. Received at NCBS by Anjali JR.
