The accession consists of papers belonging to Chayanika Shah. The collection contains Shah's PhD thesis from IIT Bombay, documents related to her teaching career in Physics, notes and writings related to her foray into the women's rights movement, and writings, publicity, and educational material primarily about women's rights over their bodies and sexuality. Chayanika Shah is an activist, queer feminist, writer and educator. Shah has been involved in India's women's rights movement since the 1970s. Shah works at the intersection of feminism, science, reproductive rights, sexuality, and gender.

The collection was packed and shipped from Shah's residence in Sion, Mumbai by Anjali J R on 20 December, 2023. It was received at the Archives by Ravi Boyapati on 3 January, 2024.
Retention Rule
The Chayanika Shah collection could be used to study the women's rights movement in India and the intersections between science and gender. The teaching material is a useful resource for those interested in understanding pedagogy of science and gender studies. The Archives has offered to preserve and catalogue these materials. The donor and the Archives have agreed that the Archives will have full authority in handling the material in the future.
