Kalpavriksh Papers

Content Description

The Kalpavriksh Collection consists of policy documents, action plans for 30 states,16 substate (local) sites, 10 ecoregions (cutting across states), and 13 themes and review papers, culminating in a draft national plan. Notes for the same have been provided to the Archives at NCBS. 2 diaries were initially given by the donor Ashish Kothari with the collection to establish context for the material. But these were couriered back to the donor(hasn't been digitised) upon their request. There are also materials related to the Pune Tree Watch, , a local initiative aimed at protecting and preserving the tree cover in Pune. There are also documents from the Protected Area Updates which publishes information related to different protect areas in India.

Retention Rule

Permanent retention.The Kalpavriksh Papers fits under the scope of the Archives at NCBS as part of the history of ecological movements in India, community science and ecology, and the legal framework for ecology and conservation in India. The Archives has offered to preserve and catalogue these materials. The donor and the Archives have agreed that the Archives will have full authority in handling the material in the future, , as per the Deed of Gift (except for third-party copyright).
