This accession consists of papers belonging to A. N. Yellappa Reddy. Yellappa Reddy is a well-connected conservationist who is a retired Principal Chief Conservator of Forests. He has been part of governmental and non governmental bodies involved in the preservation of biodiversity and habitats in Western ghats, including the Bangalore Environment Trust. The accession contains printed and handwritten material. It includes diaries, journals, and reports . A framed photograph has also been retained.

The accession will be transferred to a new collection A N Yellappa Reddy papers. It consists of a series of research notes, reports and photographs.

Provenance

The Collection was given to Samira Agnihotri when she visited the residence of A N Yellappa Reddy on June 12th, 2023. Samira brought it to the archives and it was received by Anjali JR on the same day. New material consisting of a single report was picked up by Deepika S on 21 November, 2024.

Retention Rule

The papers could help provide context to the people and organisation structures that entail the forest departments in India. The Archives has offered to preserve and catalogue these materials. The donor and the Archives have agreed that the Archives will have full authority in handling the material in the future, including transferring it to a more suitable archive when the situation arises.
